NEW YORK, March 4, 2019鈥擴.S.听insurers are the nation鈥檚 economic first responders and outspoken advocates for building resilient structures, according to , the Insurance Information Institute鈥檚 (I.I.I.) Chief Executive Officer.

Kevelighan is scheduled to make these points at the on Tuesday, March 5, at 8 a.m.

鈥淚nsurers and public policy makers constantly educate consumers and business owners about how they can protect themselves economically and physically from tornadoes, hurricanes, and other severe weather events,鈥 said Kevelighan. 鈥淚 applaud the National Tornado Summit and Disaster Symposium鈥檚 organizers for bringing together experts from across the country to exchange ideas about improving disaster preparedness.鈥

The I.I.I.鈥檚 CEO and , a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Senior Hurricane Specialist and Warning Coordination Meteorologist, are appearing jointly at the Cox Convention Center, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Their session will focus primarily on the 2017 and 2018 Atlantic hurricane seasons and is called Emergency Preparedness: Lessons Learned on Surviving Devastating Hurricanes.
