NEW YORK, April 26, 2011 —Dr. Robert Hartwig, CPCU, an economist and president of the Insurance Information Institute (I.I.I.), will present an economic analysis of the costs of no-fault insurance fraud in New York at a presentation today before the New York State Senate’s Insurance Committee.

Dr. Hartwig was invited by the committee to testify on ways to reduce the incidence of no-fault auto insurance fraud at the public hearing which gets underway this morning (Tuesday, April 26) at 10 a.m. at 250 Broadway, Senate Hearing Room, 19th Floor, New York, NY 10007. In his prepared remarks, the I.I.I. president discloses that New Yorkers paid $204 million more in auto insurance premiums last year than they otherwise would have because of criminals who submitted fraudulent Personal Injury Protection (PIP) claims in 2010, an I.I.I. analysis revealed.
