Joining Kevelighan on a panel to discuss��The Interrelationship Between Climate Change and Insurance��on Saturday, March 5, will be, in alphabetical order, Stefan Holzberger, Senior Managing Director and Chief Rating Officer, AM Best; Dr. Joanne Leovy, Nevada State Medical Association Delegate to the Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health;��, Commissioner, Connecticut Department of Insurance; and Richard Sorkin, Co-Founder and CEO, Jupiter Intelligence. State Rep.����of Pennsylvania is the moderator. The session starts at 10:45 a.m., PT, and concludes at noon, PT.��

"With industry loss costs related to natural catastrophes soaring nearly 700 percent since the 80's, there can be no doubt that insurance has long been dealing with climate risk. And with more people than ever now moving to or living in catastrophe prone areas of the U.S., insurance is focused on helping customers and communities adapt to the changes, mitigate the risks, and become more resilient,” Kevelighan stated.

Given the millions of Americans who live in harm’s way, Triple-I launched its����initiative and created a����map to help people and communities better manage risk and become more resilient, Kevelighan said. The goal of Triple-I’s Resilience Accelerator is to demonstrate the power of insurance as a force for resilience by telling the story of how insurance coverage helps governments, businesses and individuals recover faster and more completely after natural disasters.

��is The Institutes Griffith Foundation Legislator Luncheon’s guest speaker on Friday, March 4, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., PT. His remarks to lawmakers and regulators will focus on��Inflation: Implications for Insurers and Public Policymakers. In addition to heading Triple-I’s Economics and Analytics Department, Dr. Léonard is an adjunct faculty member at New York University’s Economics Department and at Columbia University’s Statistics Department and Data Science Institute. NCOIL’s Spring Meeting (March 3-6) is being held at Harrah’s Las Vegas.

Founded in 1969, NCOIL is a national bipartisan organization comprised principally of legislators serving on state insurance and financial institutions committees nationwide. NCOIL writes Model Laws in insurance, works to preserve state jurisdiction over insurance, and serves as an educational forum for public policy makers and interested parties.��
